Cole Ruegg Psychotherapy
Hello, and welcome. My name is Cole, and I'm a psychodynamic psychotherapist.
You may be here because you're feeling anxious, low, or caught in repeating patterns. Perhaps you're struggling in relationships, carrying the weight of past experiences, or exploring questions of identity and who you want to be.
Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and be heard. My approach is warm, inclusive, and non-judgmental, offering a confidential setting where we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences together. I am committed to understanding the unique complexities of each person's story — helping you make sense of how past and present are connected, and supporting you in finding new ways of being with yourself and others.
Exploring relational patterns and past experiences to understand present-day difficulties and foster meaningful change.
Therapy open to all, including affirming support for LGBTQ+ individuals navigating identity, relationships and life transitions.
Flexible therapy options to meet your needs, whether you prefer face-to-face sessions in London or secure online consultations.
Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting. I offer a free 15 minute initial phone call to discuss your needs and see if we might work well together.
I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Alongside my private practice, I have experience providing psychodynamic therapy within the NHS, supporting people facing a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain and illness. I have also worked as a listening volunteer with Switchboard, the LGBTQ+ helpline. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the diverse ways people navigate identity, relationships, belonging and life's many challenges.
In my private practice, I have a particular interest in working with LGBTQ+ clients, and with people navigating the pressures of demanding professional environments, including stress, burnout, and questions of meaning and identity in relation to work.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that everyone has the capacity for growth and change when offered a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space in which to explore their experiences.
I am a registered member (410518) of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling Professionals.
My training and approach is psychodynamic — a psychoanalytically informed model of therapy that explores how past experiences and relationships continue to shape the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and navigate the world today.
Often, patterns that feel hard to shift have their roots in earlier experiences, some of which may lie outside of conscious awareness. By gently bringing these patterns into focus, therapy can open the possibility of greater self-understanding, healing, and change.
The therapeutic relationship itself is a central part of this process. Together, we can pay close attention to what happens in our sessions, as this often mirrors wider relationship patterns and can offer valuable insight into your inner world.
Sessions last 50 minutes and take place weekly at the same time. This regular rhythm provides a consistent, confidential space for exploration. My work is typically open ended, allowing your needs to guide the focus and duration of our work. We can discuss the duration of therapy as our work together progresses.
My practice is open to people from all backgrounds and life experiences. I am committed to creating a welcoming and affirming space where who you are can be explored with curiosity, respect, and acceptance.
I understand LGBTQ+ identities as natural and valid expressions of human diversity, and I work affirmatively with gender and sexual diversity. I also hold in mind the importance of culture, context, and the wider systems we live within, recognising how factors such as race, class, disability, and religion can shape our experiences and affect mental health. I believe that societal systems of oppression deepen these challenges, and therapy can offer a space to acknowledge and work through their impact with care, openness, and respect.
I also welcome people working in high-pressure professional environments, who are experiencing stress, burnout, or a growing sense that something needs to change.
Above all, my aim is to provide a confidential, non-judgmental environment where you can feel safe to reflect on yourself, your relationships, and your inner world without fear of rejection or prejudice.
Sessions for ongoing psychotherapy last for 50 minutes and are held at the same time and place each week. Please note, I currently only have availability for online sessions.
At the start of therapy I offer two initial 50 minute consultation sessions for a combined fee of £100. These sessions give you the opportunity to share what is troubling you, get a sense for how I work and for us to decide together whether to proceed with weekly psychotherapy.
The fee for regular individual psychodynamic psychotherapy sessions (50 minutes) ranges between £80-100. We will discuss and agree the applicable rate in your initial consultations based on your personal circumstances.
I reserve a limited number of therapy spaces for individuals who would benefit from psychodynamic psychotherapy but are unable to afford the standard rate. Priority for reduced rate spaces is given to students, those on benefits, individuals from marginalized communities, and others experiencing genuine financial hardship. Please contact me to discuss your situation confidentially.
Payment can be made by bank transfer and regular sessions are invoiced on a monthly basis.
If we agree to proceed with weekly psychotherapy, a session time will be set aside for you each week, and cancellations are therefore usually payable in full. Please see my Standard Therapy Contract for full cancellation policy details.
I currently have availability for online sessions only. If you are looking for in-person sessions in central or east London please feel free to get in touch and I will let you know when I next have spaces available.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss your needs and arrange an initial consultation.
